Excellent place to stay. Great location with easy access to lake Windermere. Everything about the hotel is top quality, the rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. Breakfast is great with a massive choice to suit all tastes. The restaurant serves top quality food at reasonable prices. What really makes this place work so well is the staff, very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Spa area is another excellent feature with a really nice pool and outdoor hot tub (which is large) It's also a nice place to have a relaxing read after a sauna or steam. Plenty of free secure parking with an overflow car park if the main one is full. Highly recommended and we will certainly be returning.

The hotel was so wonderful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Like to say thank you to Charlotte and all the reception and Manuel in the dinning room and all the staff 😀. Also thank you to room service. The hotel was so clean felt really warming and really relaxing. Thank you for making out stay so wonderful. Will definitely return.

Perfect location. Parking available. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was fab, really spacious, clean and comfortable. Leisure facilities were really nice and a great treat for an hour following a day of walking. Breakfast was amazing! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel was in a good location for local restaurants and had plenty of parking. Hotel appeared well maintained and was well staffed, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Spa facilities with large indoor swimming pool was a very relaxed area. Lift to 1st and 2nd floors perfect for transporting suitcases. Breakfast was very good with a vast range of options from full cooked breakfast, cereals, fruits, breads, continental meats/cheeses.

Absolutely loved our hotel, the facilities are superb - spa, bar, restaurant, comfy lounges, parking on site. The hotel is in prime location right in the centre of Ambleside so the shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes are literally on the doorstep. We were able to access the car park prior to check in, and also we were advised we could use the spa for as long as we liked after check out. The staff were superb, particularly the restaurant staff. Attentive but not over bearing, friendly and funny. We ate our evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant and both were excellent. The room was beautiful with stunning views, Immaculately clean, more of a small apartment than a room with everything you need for a short stay including a good hairdryer! I anticipated that the price was justified purely because of the location however it's so much more than that. It exceeded my expectations and was a real treat.

The hotel was in a perfect location overlooking the ambleside town. Staff were so helpful, polite and generous. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the spa and had a massage each, it was so relaxing and clean. The food was amazing, best breakfast ive had when staying at a hotel. I will definitely be returning.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, easy check in. Situated in the town center everything on the doorstep, shops, pubs etc. 30min walk to lake/boat rides to Windermere etc. Check times and you can get a 'all day pass' if booked before 11am, you can book online. A beautiful part of the world, relax and recharge. It is the lakes so expect hils, narrow roads and tight corners. Room was comfortable, bed a little too hard for me, but fine, tea/coffee, small fridge, towels, robe and slippers, shampoo etc all provided. It was hot when we stayed and the room was a little on the warm side. In the lakes this is not usually an issue. Breakfast was lovely with a wide range of choice including hot, cold options, vegetarian and vegan options. Staff were very helpful and you were able to add/delete anything from full breakfasts available. Nice to have free parking available right next to hotel. Would stay here again.

Luxury hotel with warm, welcoming, friendly helpful staff, many of whom have been there a long time which tells you a lot about a place. The pool/spa with outdoor jacuzzi is sublime. The food and bar/dining areas are too notch. Right in the heart of Ambleside - a lovely place with plenty to do - outdoors, eating/drinking, shopping, cinema, you name it - and a great base to explore other parts of the lake district. Obviously for such great facilities and service you expect to pay a bit, but it's definitely not overpriced.

The hotel is in the centre of Ambleside and is a good location for local walks. The breakfast is a highlight of the week , excellent choice and quality and the service is second to none , wonderful , kind staff who bring a smile to your face. Nothing is too much trouble . This is our third year staying with the Salutation and have never been disappointed. There is nothing quite like being able to sit and relax in the excellent Spa after a challenging day out on the mountains . We will be back next year to do it all again !
